Lesson 14: Software as an Educational Resource

The computer hardware can hardly be use without the program or system that tells what the computer machine should do called SOFTWARE.

 

There are 2 kinds of Software:

1.      System software – found inside all the computer machines.

2.      Application software –contains the system that commands the particular tasks or solves a particular problem.
 the computer software may be:

-          Custom software

-          Commercial software

MS Office- also referred to as program that is an opening environment between the user and the computer operating system.

It is self-contained operating system which provides:

·         User convenience

·         New look

·         Information center

·         Plug and play

 

Instructional Software –can be visited on the internet or can be bought from software shops. The teacher through his school should decide on the best COMPUTER- BASED INSTRUCTIONAL (CBI)
