Lesson 10: The Computer as a Tutor

CAI (Computer Assisted Instruction)

The teacher must be sure that his/her learners have the knowledge and skills for any computer activity, decide the appropriate learning objectives, plan the sequential and structural activities to achieve objectives and evaluate the student’s achievement by ways of tests the specific expected outcomes.

Students in CAI play their roles as learners as they receive information, understand instructions for the computer activity, retain in mind the information and rules for the computer activity, and apply knowledge and rules during the process of computer learning.

The computer too, plays its roles as it acts as a sort of tutor, provides learning environment, delivers learning instruction, reinforces learning through drill-and-practice, and provides feedback.

Simulation programs:

-          Instructional games
-          Problem Solving Software
